South Carolina Governor Comes Clean About Absence and Admits to Affair

South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford, who had been pegged as a strong contender for the GOP in the 2012 Presidential election, resigned as head of the Republican Governors Association. Sanford had made headlines for disappearing earlier this week and today revealed why he had been missing.

"I've been unfaithful to my wife, and I developed a relationship with what started as a dear, dear friend from Argentina," he said, breaking down in tears.

Sanford had said he had been camping when people questioned his whereabouts after resurfacing. He admitted today that he went on a secret trip Argentina to meet with his lover.

There is now talk about impeaching the Governor in the state chamber because of him going AWOL earlier this week and not being able to be reached.
