Donte Stallworth Released from Prison Early
Donte Stallworth, the Cleveland Browns' wide receiver who plead guilty to DUI manslaughter and was subsequently sentenced to 30 days in jail, was released early from a Miami prison on Friday. Stallworth left the jail at about 5:55am Friday, serving just 24 days of the 30 day sentence. He still faces years of probation and house arrest, and is not permitted to drive.
Exiting the jail, Stallworth refused to comment to reporters waiting outside.
Earlier this week some additional details about the day Stallworth struck 59-year-old Mario Reyes with his vehicle were released. Stallworth had met with fellow Browns wide receiver Braylon Edwards and some friends at a Miami Beach club the night before the accident, where he says he drank tequila. He then said he went to his condo for a nap and headed out for breakfast when he struck Reyes. Stallworth said that Edwards told him that he seemed fine at the time.
But when a field sobriety test was conducted, Stallworth's blood-alcohol level was at .126, which is above the legal Florida limit of .08.
