Jonathan Sanchez Tosses First San Fran Giants No Hitter in Over 3 Decades

San Francisco Giants 26 left hand pitcher Jonathan Sanchez threw the first no-hitter in the Major Leagues this season and also ended a 33 drought by Giants players yesterday evening against the San Diego Padres. Sanchez, recently demoted to the Giants bullpen, threw his first complete game in the 8-0 victory and struck out 11. Sanchez also pitched the game in front of his visiting father and acknowledged his desire to stay in the starting rotation:

"I want to be a starter," Sanchez says. "They gave me a second chance, you see what happened tonight."

With a masterfully pitched game like that, he likely earned himself many more starts for the Giants for many seasons to come.
