Diablo Cody to Turn "Sweet Valley High" Books into Movie

Francine Pascal's well-loved series of young adult novels - Sweet Valley High - will be made in a feature film. Diablo Cody, the Oscar winning screenwriter of "Juno" and "Jennifer's Body" has agreed to write and adapt the novels, which Pascal first began to write in 1983, for the big screen.
The Sweet Valley High book series follows the lives of the popular blond Wakefield twins - Elizabeth and Jessica - at Sweet Valley High School in the fictional town of Sweet Valley, California. The series eventually went on to produce over 150 books. The final book in the series, Sweet Valley University, was published in 2003. There were also several spin-off series, and the books were made into a TV show that ran from 1994 to 1997.
Universal is still in talks with the publisher, Random House, to acquire the rights to the series. Therefore, there are not yet any details on who may play the Wakefield twins.
