A baby miraculously escaped almost certain death when his stroller rolled of a station platform and under a train. Video footage was released today of the boy's brush with death in Melbourne, Australia.

The video shows the boy's mother briefly letting go of the stroller, which then rolls off the platform and on to the track, just as a train pulls into the station. The driver used emergency breaks, however the stroller was still dragged about 60 yards along the rails. When the train stopped, a member of the public jumped down on to the tracks and grabbed the young child.

According to police, the baby had "superficial injuries to his head", but otherwise he was unscathed. He was taken to the Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne Thursday afternoon, and was discharged later in the day.

Sergeant Michael Ferwerda of Victoria Police said: “It was a lucky escape and a chance for commuters to think about heeding warnings to be more careful around platforms.”
