Bernie Kosar is Back with the Browns
Bernie Kosar, a former quarterback for the Cleveland Browns from 1985 to 1993, has reached an agreement with club owner Randy Lerner to serve as a consultant. Just what Kosar will be consulting the Browns on is not yet known. No specific duties have been outlined, and there may not even be a formal announcement made about their arrangement.
After Lerner and Kosar reached the agreement last week, Kosar is said to have spent several days with the organization. He is said to essentially be "another set of eyes" for Lerner, and will report to him.
Lerner has attempted to lure Kosar, 45, back to Cleveland to fill a role with the Browns for quite a few years now, but Kosar always declined to make the move from Weston, FL back home to Ohio. He consistently cited business and personal commitments as his reasons for being unable to work with the Browns franchise.
After a tumultuous few years and major changes in his life, Bernie now says he has the time to commit. On accepting Lerner's invitation to work with the franchise, Kosar said:
"I've got a little more time now to do it. I'm getting my personal life in order. I still miss football and the Arena thing whetted my appetite."
"I want to make sure it's comfortable as a fit and make sure I can help. I want to be sensitive to all the time and work the coaches put into the job. They've been great to me."
Kosar still has four children living in Weston, and said that he is not sure how much time he will spend in Cleveland.
And now, another blast from the past:
