Ex-Indian Matt Williams and Two Others In HGH Scandal

Paul Byrd's dentist was a busy man. The San Francisco Chronicle released more names that purchased HGH from a Florida anti-aging clinic. The same dentist that Paul Byrd, who was outed by the paper late last month, wrote some of the prescriptions.

The names released today by the Chronicle were Jose Guillen, Ismael Valdez, and Matt Williams. Jose Guillen played for the Seattle Mariners this season Guillen hit 31 home runs in 2003 after 5 seasons in the big leagues and not hitting more than 14. Valdez was a pitcher who went had a career of 104-105 in his time in the big leagues with a number of different teams.

Records showed that Williams recieved HGH in 2002 while still playing for the Arizona Diamondbacks. He has admitted that he used HGH when asked when the story broke. He said he had a heal injury but discontinued using the drug due to its side effects. Williams played third base in 1997 for the Cleveland Indians who advanced to the World Series. In 1994 Williams was on pace to break the mark held by Roger Maris for the most home runs in a single season before the lock out ended the season.

Were some of the home runs tainted? Probably. It looks like a whole generation of baseball fans will always have to wonder about the numbers some of the "greats" put up during the mid-90's to present. Thanks Bud Selig.
