Quarter of a Million People Sign On to Make St. Patrick's Day An Official US Holiday

250,000 people have signed on to make St. Patrick's Day An Official US Holiday. The movement was started by Diageo who make the popular Guinness beer. Proponents of the idea are calling the bill "Proposition 3-17".

"We're proud to sponsor Proposition 3-17," said Richard Nichols of Diageo, ."The widespread support for this initiative, which really appears to be across party lines, shows that Americans want to come together to celebrate a wonderful day and the Irish spirit that lives inside all of us."

Brewmaster Fergal Murray met with Rep. Jim Crowley (D- NY) discussing the idea. The people from Guinness say large numbers, both of Irish decent and non Irish, celebrate St Patrick's Day.

So what do you think of the idea? Do you want a day where the national celebrates Irish heritage or do you like it how it is currently? Personally, I would like to see Election Day as a national holiday before St Paddy's Day and I am of Irish decent.
