6 Heading to Canton to be Immortalized in NFL Hall of Fame

Bob Hayes, Randall McDaniel, Bruce Smith, Derrick Thomas, Ralph Wilson Jr. and Rod Woodson Being Enshrined on August 8th

The Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton will welcome 6 new members on August 8th. Paul Tagliabue, the former commissioner of the NFL, was once again denied entry while Buffalo Bills owner Ralph Wilson Jr., who is 90 years of age, finally got the nod from the voters.

Among the players that will have a place in Canton are all-time sack leader Bruce Smith. Smith told the AP after being named:

"Just thinking about my father and all the sacrifices he and my mother made when I was a child growing up to be a man," Smith and added . "How he wanted me to have a life better than he had. I just wish he was here. He would be extremely proud of this day."

Pittsburgh Steelers fans will have a reason to celebrate before the Super Bowl as longtime Steeler Rod Woodson also made the cut. Former Minnesota guard Randall McDaniel who played from 1988–2001 also was awarded the sports highest honor. Dallas Cowboys star Bob Hayes and Kansas City Chiefs defensive wizard Derrick Thomas made the Hall of Fame posthumously.
