Charity Urging Madonna to Reconsider Adopting Second Malawi Child

A British charity is urging Madonna to reconsider her rumored plans to adopt another child from the African nation of Malawi. Save the Children UK spokesman Dominic Nutt asked her to "please think twice" before going through with the adoption.

Nutt said that he cannot directly comment on the recently divorced singer's plans, but said that adoptions in such contexts are often inappropriate and unnecessary. He also says that children are best cared for by their extended families.

Speaking anonymously due to the sensitivity of the case, a person involved in Malawian adoption proceedings told the AP on Friday that Madonna has plans to adopt a girl from the impoverished nation.

Madonna first adopted a boy, David Banda, from Malawi in 2006. After much controversy, Malawi courts finally approved the adoption in 2008.
