You really have alot of nerve complaining about fuel conservation! You admitted that you usually do 5-10 mph OVER the speed limit. It dosen't seem like you are too worried about it, so why complain about truck speed limit being raised? No matter what state I drive in, I do 5 over, because the cops won't bother you. What I don't get is when a 4-wheeler sees a cop up ahead, they slam on their brakes and do 5-10 mph UNDER the speed limit. That, right there makes you look guilty as all get out! Nobody will drive past a cop on the interstate, their afraid to pass a cop because they might get pulled over......News Flash!!!! They can't & won't pull you over for passing them!! If you are going 5 over the speed limit, cops most generall y won't bother you! I drive a truck for a living and I have passed cops when I was going 5 over the limit. Any faster & they will write you a big fat ticket. Our fines are so much higher than it is for you 4-wheelers. We dedicate our lives to keeping this country of ours running. I'm sure you've heard or seen the phrase " IF TRUCKS STOP, AMERICA STOPS". It so true! If we stopped, how would you put gas in your sporty vehicle, let alone, you wouldn't have that sporty vehicle. The clothes you wear....cotton? I've hauled it! you'd either be naked or dealing with the older clothes you have already. Food,gas,appliances, seeds for your garden, asphalt & concrete for the roads we all drive on, lumber,power lines & poles,cable for telephone lines, your cell phone,paint for your house,the tires on your car,all the food you eat,the clothes you wear...... everything you can possibly think of ....WAS BROUGHT TO YOU BY A TRUCK & THE DRIVER WHO DRIVES IT!!!
Us truckdrivers deserve alot more respect then we even almost sometimes get a glimps of! We get flipped off for always being in your way & going too slow. Give us truckers a break!!!!!!!!!!!!! We stay away from our families for days,weeks,months just so our country can survive & we can feed our families! We are just trying to make a living, just like everyone is our world! So, PLEASE, the next time you are out on the highway....... be courtious & let us do our job! Don't try and take off our front bumper,because you are in a hurry to get in front of that truck, just to go & wait for us to pull up beside you at the same signal light you just had to beat us to!
Personally, I think that 95% of all accidents caused on the highways is because of cars rushing thru traffic & we can't stop on a dime, so therefore...... we get blamed!
Sit down & think of everything you own...... a truck brought it to the store where you bought it!!!!
Speed limits should be the same in all states!!
