Mark Your Calendars for the 2009 Lou Groza Charity Golf Event
This fall, the Berea Rotary Club will once again be hosting the 2009 Lou Groza Charity Golf Event, which will be held on September 10, 2009. The venue location has changed this year, and will be held at Coppertop at Cherokee Hills, a premier golf club located in Valley City, Ohio.
The Lou Groza Charity Golf Event benefits youth sports, mentoring programs, scholarships, and civil improvements, as well as regional and international Rotary charity causes in the Northeast Ohio area.
In 2008 and 2007, Cleveland Browns alumni players including Webster Slaughter, Felix Wright, Joe "Turkey" Jones, Jim Houston, and Don Cockroft golfed in the event to support the Berea Rotary Club's causes. This year's line-up of Browns alumni promises to be just as great.
The gala event is open to the public, and includes food, drinks, and on-course games/prizes. Shotgun start begins at 9:00 am. The pre-pay admission fee of just $95 also includes breakfast, lunch and dinner.
The event's namesake, Lou Groza, was a former member of the Berea Rotary Club who's generosity inspired the Berea Rotary Club to hold this annual event in order to honor him and support the causes he held close to his heart.
