Men Who Marry Younger Women Live Longer
A new study out of Germany's Max Planck Institute found that men who marry younger women tend to live longer. If a man marries a woman between 15 and 17 years his junior, his chances of dying early are cut by 1/5. The risk of premature death is reduced by 11 percent if he marries a woman seven to nine years younger. Interestingly, the study also found that men marrying older women are more likely to die early.
The study also suggests that women don't experience the same benefits of marrying a man either younger or older. Wives with husbands older or younger by between seven and nine years increase their chances of dying early by 20 percent. If the age difference is 15 to 17 years, this rises to 30 percent.
Researchers say that the figures for men could be the result of natural selection, and that only the healthiest, most successful older men are able to attract a younger mate.
Institute spokesman Sven Drefahl said:
"Another theory is that a younger woman will care for a man better and therefore he will live longer."
The study looked at the deaths for the entire population of Denmark from 1990 to 2005.

I was married to an older man and he mentally and physcially put me down, I felt old when I was twenty. Now that I left him and I have a healthy lifestyle. I have had the best relationship with a guy 22 years younger and he diied, He made me want to life, I was mentally, phsycially, spiritually happy. The is no way ;in hell that I would ever marry a man 15 years older than me. I would marry at my age or at least have a man 10 years younger. Women do not age as fast whan they live healthy. Much more than men. I look and feel 15 years younger. This theory or research is based on a man. I have so many friends that have younger men and they are very happy and living a good life. I see men that are older than me flirt all the time, I just turn my head. I t is the younger guys that are eager to please and sex is much better, they last longer and are open to more experimental things. I will spread and march for women to have more options then the Bullshite you create to limitt my species.
Previous comment indicated sleazy? What a biased comment. Whenever an older man seeks a younger woman there is a limited population of women who may find interest in the older man. Is it the womans choice to match up with the man that is sleazy or the man who desires the young woman? They are both making free choice. I think the person who commented earlier has a hangup,

This must be a biased report. Younger men could be more open to more equality between the roles of men and women in a household. Older, more traditional men, are more likely to have been brought up in households where women had their roles and men had their specific roles. Older women who have rejected these traditional roles of the past, but have had difficulty in finding a man her age who is open to non-traditional roles, possibly, could find a mate who is younger and is more accustomed to exploring non-traditional ways of creating a relationship. If the older women finds a more open, creative younger man, then that could only create more happiness for her and her mate.
That Danish and German study has flaws. It doesn't make sense for the late 20th century or for this current century. It just affirms the status quo, and only addresses inequality between the sexes.
