Survey: New York Drivers are Country's Worst; Cleveland Drivers are Polite

According to a new survey by Autovantage, the state of New York is the newest road rage capital of the United States. For the past four years, Miami topped the list. The study also revealed that the most "polite" drivers can be found in Portland and Cleveland, while the most pleasant drivers are in Baltimore, Sacramento, and Pittsburgh.

This year's study surveyed drivers in 25 major metro areas, looking for incidents of tailgating, speeding, horn abse and lack of anger management skills. New Yorkers were found to have the most observed incidents, and were more likely to lash out at other drivers by waving their arms, using hand gestures, and blowing their horn.

Trailing New York in the poll were Dallas/Fort Worth, Detroit, Atlanta, and Minneapolis/St. Paul. Miami fell to seventh place.

Cell phone use was also found to be the most likely trigger for road rage, with 84% of those surveyed pointing to in-car cell phone use as a main reason they get angry.

Detroit and San Francisco drivers were found to be the biggest texting-while-driving group. Miami drivers were most likely to groom themselves behind the wheel.

Hi,
In 2005, my husband and I moved to Maine. What a wonderful surprise to find that drivers actually stop and LET YOU IN. Also, they STOP for people crossing the street. If you hear a horn blow, it is most likely somebody from another state. It is FUN to drive once again!

I can't agree more. I was once in NYC, and noticed that drivers there are kinda rude.

Interesting statistic about drivers.
