Donte Stallworth will avoid at least one court case. The Cleveland Browns wide receiver and the family of the man he is charged with hitting and killing with his vehicle have reached a financial agreement, avoiding a lawsuit.
An individual close to the negotiations revealed to the AP that the settlement amount was confidential.
Stallworth, although avoiding a civil suit, still has to face criminal charges. Attorneys have indicated that he will plead guilty Tuesday in Miami court to DUI manslaughter.
Stallworth, 28, is accused of striking Mario Reyes with his car while returning from a night on the town in Miami back in March. He was found to have a blood alcohol level of .126 following the crash, surpassing Florida's limit of .08.
