Here is the full press release released today:

FORTHCOMING ALBUM, "ON WITH THE SHOW," FEATURES 11 RECENT TRACKS, 8 CO-WRITTEN BY LAMBERT

NEW YORK, June 23 /PRNewswire/ -- The much-discussed new single, "Want" by Adam Lambert will be available on iTunes beginning June 23rd, 2009. The song comes from a full album entitled On With The Show, which will be released by Hi Fi Recordings/Wilshire Records this summer. The vast majority of songs on the album were co-written by Lambert, in fact; eight tracks of the forthcoming eleven song album were co-written by the artist. "Want" was produced by Malcolm Welsford with additional production by Mark Endert (Maroon 5, The Fray, Fiona Apple).

On With The Show is drenched in Lambert's signature sound and style. It is part of the more than two albums' worth of material he recorded with production and publishing company Wilshire Records over the course of their three year relationship. Before any other major entity, producer Malcolm Welsford and his independent label, Wilshire, recognized Lambert's musical gift and nurtured and supported his development. Both in the studio and as a writer, Adam honed his craft with the help of the producers, who also wholeheartedly encouraged Lambert to pursue his Idol opportunity.

Adam's success on the show allowed America to see what Wilshire Records always believed - his meteoric rise to prominence was no fluke, it came from years of hard work and talent.

Partner label, Hi Fi Recordings, also an independent label and home to Idol alumn Melinda Doolittle, Smashmouth, Todd Rundgren. Dionne Warwick, and Donny & Marie (Osmond), is known for their unconventional and artist-friendly partnerships and profit splits. On With The Show is the first release in an overall deal between Wilshire and Hi Fi to develop other Wilshire artists and collaborate on new releases.

The decision to release On With The Show was made after the Hi Fi team heard and was blown away by the quality of the material.

Hi Fi Recordings CEO John Hecker, who in addition to artists listed above previously signed Avril Lavigne, Spacehog and Marvelous 3, states, "As fans of Adam's work ourselves, it is a top priority to us that Adam shares in the success of this music. Hands down, "Want" is one of the biggest radio smashes I have heard in a long time and the album will contain more of the same. We're thrilled to see that fans on message boards across the internet overwhelmingly agree that the song is a hit with them. As a prelude to Adam's Fall album, we're thrilled to be able to share the music of "ON WITH THE SHOW," which Wilshire Records put so much time into developing with the artist."

Hi Fi President and music publishing veteran, John Titta will also be heavily involved in all aspects of the album, from all creative decisions concerning the repertoire to the licensing of the masters and copyrights.

Actually, it was never an album. It was session work. Here is Adam's statement about Want:

“Back in 2005, when I was a struggling artist, I was hired as a studio singer to lend my vocals to tracks written by someone else. I was broke at the time and this was my chance to make a few bucks, so I jumped at the opportunity to record for my first time in a professional studio. The work I did back then in no way reflects the music I am currently in the studio working on. I’m thrilled to be working with some of today’s hottest songwriters and producers and can’t wait for people to hear what my music really sounds like."

Umm, an album is defined as "one or more recordings issued together" so - yes - this is an album

My point being it was not recorded with the intention of being an album by Adam Lambert. This was session work. If Hi Fi/Wilshire wants to put together these songs to release as an "album," that's their prerogative since he signed away his rights, but these were originally intended as demos meant to sell songs to other artists. (As mentioned: "Want" was recorded by one of Wilshire's artists Dublyn Jones under the title "December," but that song has since been removed from Wilshire's website. Curious? Not really. It contradicts their press release and prove the truth of Adam's statement.)

Anyway, this sort of thing has happened before with other artists, and it will happen again, I'm sure. It shouldn't negatively impact Adam's career at all.

This is NOT Adam's new single. It is old material (2005) that he recorded as a DEMO. The company Wilshire is trying to make money off of Adam Lambert's name and Adam gets nothing from this. He was a session singer when this was recorded.

Please get your FACTS straight.

I am buying/gifting Adam Lambert's Whole Lotta Love today off itunes today. I support Adam!

You should amend your article to explain that this is not new Adam material, but old demos he recorded from 2005-2008. This song in no way reflects the material he will be releasing in the fall.

This is NOT his new single. Adam has denounced it as an old demo and has not endorsed this "album." Hi Fi Recordings/Wilshire Records are releasing Adam's session work from back in 2005 to cash in on his fame. Case in point: "Want" was already recorded by an artist called Dublyn Jones with the title "December," and this song was available on Wilshire's website until this past weekend.

Wow, do any online sites actually do a bit of research before they post and make idiots of themselves?

This is NOT a debut album. This is old material prepackaged to look new and make the this lame Hi-Fi record company a quick buck at Lambert's expense. It's low and dirty and greedy and sneaky. Fans aren't buying this. The record company isn't really promoting it. The only thing attractive here is Lambert's voice.

FAIL.

Lambert didn't release this song. Some two-bit record company where Adam worked as a paid session singer did. Why? Well, to capitalize off Adam Lambert's name and make a bunch of money of course-- none of which Adam will probably ever see. Don't buy this garbage. Download it the fun way.
