Music Review: Creator, Hands

Hardcore keeps getting more evolved each year and one band that shows this is Hands with Creator. “Hurricanes” kicks off this album with a vengeance as roaring vocals arise over melodic riffs and pummeling rhythms giving us a powerful tune. “Rescue” continued this massive assault as intricate harmonies are mixed with spoken shouts of pain gripping us fiercely.
Hands turns it around and goes between power sludge and death metal on “The Heavens And The Earth” as their frontman growls invocations of how our world comes together behind doom and gloom from some wicked bass and twisted frets as it definitely will freak you out. While “The Heavens And The Earth” had more of a darker flair to its scheme, “Of The Flesh” was less sinister in its mood, but had a similar prophetic approach to its message as it was set to wailing shreds on the guitar and ripping vocals. “The Least Of These” is different than the previous tracks as it has the most melody prevalent here in its musical content as the words are heartfelt and full of intent and what was surprising during this cut’s bridge more singing and less screaming was shown.
They broodingly bellows out “Resistance” with a sharp tongue and glum detail as the beats are lucid and demure while they kept the metallic rapture intact. “Returning” unfortunately is the weakest recording on this disc as it’s a typical splattering of triple-pronged structures and blithering ramblings that should’ve been left on the cutting room floor. This release ends with its title track as it begins like a traditional ballad with light tones and orchestral refrains until it becomes a remarkable anthem with chants of praising God giving “Creator” a triumphant glow. Hands impressed us to be a good metalcore unit and could possibly move forward in this format.
