Insensitive "Homecoming" Producer Slams Mischa Barton's Hospital Trip
Mischa Barton is currently being held at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center under 5150 hold in the psychiatric ward, and while we're not sure of what went down and why she's being held in there, we assume it's for her protection or the protection of others and that she's got some kind of issue that needs to be worked out. The timing of her hospital stay, however, wasn't exactly great as she was supposed to fly across the country for the premier of her new movie, "Homecoming" in NYC on Thursday night. She did not make it, and the film's producer is neither sympathetic nor very understanding.
Speaking with Us Weekly at the movie's Thursday premier, producer Bingo Gubelmann said:
"It's frustrating. And it's not ideal. It's frustrating, but I'm not going to sit here and trash her because we're young as a company and we've got to live and learn...I don't want to be known as the producer that will turn on any actress at the drop of that hat."
Rolling his eyes, Gubelmann added:
"Now, I haven't spoken to her yet because she's totally unreachable, so I don't know exactly what happened. I mean, I'm not as good at taking the high road a some people and yes, it would obviously be nice if she was here. Even just to hang out."
The reputation that Gubelmann says that he hopes to avoid getting, well, he's already gotten it with his lack of sensitivity. She's being held against her will in a psych ward!
Fortunately, not everyone involved with the film is as big of a jerk as Gubelmann. The director, Morgan J. Freeman, said:
If anything, the producer should be secretly thrilled about her hospitalization - it has drawn more press to her and the movie than a red carpet appearance would have.
