Plaxico Burress Pleads Guilty on Gun Charges; Will Serve 20 Months in Prison
Plaxico Burress, a former New York Giants wide receiver, pleaded guilty on Thursday to criminal possession of a weapon. As a result, he will spend 20 months behind bars.
Burress accidentally shot himself in the thigh on November 29, 2008 with an unregistered Glock at a Midtown Manhattan nightclub. The unlicensed gun was tucked in his waistband and slipped down his leg and fired, injuring him. Earlier this month, he was indicted on two counts of criminal possession of a weapon and one count of reckless endangerment.
Burress will turn himself in on September 22, when he will begin his prison term. He was released by the Giants in April.
