Cleveland Browns Trade Louis Leonard to Carolina Panthers

The Cleveland Browns traded defensive tackle Louis Leonard to the Carolina Panthers on Tuesday, and in return have acquired a 2010 late round draft pick. Leonard fills a hole on the team left after Maake Kemoeatu ruptured his Achilles tendon less than 30 minutes into the first practice of training camp.

Leonard played all 16 games for the Browns last season, includng four starts. He had 31 tackles last year as well. With the Browns this season, Leonard recently got into an argument with defensive line coach Bryan Cox during practice and was made to run laps.

With Carolina, Leonard could see some playing time on Thursday during their final preseason match against Pittsburgh.

Leonard was signed by San Diego in 2007, after having gone undrafted out of Fresno State. He was later waived by the Charges and St. Louis before signng with the Browns during the middle of the 2007 season.
