Hugo Chavez Confirms Castro Is “Battling for His Life”

Hugo Chavez confirmed what the world suspected: Fidel Castro is severely ill. "Fidel is in the Sierra Maestra again, battling for his life," Chavez said about the ailing Cuban leader.

The 80 year old Castro has not been seen in public since July. He has given the governance of the country to his brother, Raul; while he recovers what the western world presumes is cancer.

Although Chavez did say the illness was very serious he did deny a Spanish newspapers account about Castro’s condition. The paper stated that Castro has had three failed operations for intestinal infection diverticulitis.
