Dennis Hopper Rushed to Hospital

Actor Dennis Hopper, 73, was taken by ambulance today to an unidentified New York hospital. Eyewitnesses told Entertainment Tonight that he was brought into the ER wearing an oxygen mask, but his publicist says he is merely suffering from a flulike stomach ailment.

Hopper was in NY to promote his role in the Starz TV version of "Crash", but has since cancelled most of his scheduled stop. He was due to appear on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon tonight, and the Today show.

Hopper first made a name for himself by writing, starring, and directing in the 1969 film "Easy Rider". In 1987, he was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his role in "Hoosiers." He is also well known for playing a series of villians in films including Blue Velvet and Speed, as well as in the first season of 24.

I can't help but wonder if the "flulike stomach ailment" is the swine flu!
