Browns Should Make a Play to Acquire Marvin Harrison

The Cleveland Browns regain some faith in their fanbase today, shipping out malcontent receiver Braylon Edwards to the New York Jets. The Browns could parlay the good sentiment surrounding the team if they make a move to acquire free agent Marvin Harrison.

Harrison, of course, is up in age (37) but still managed to haul in 60 passes for 636 yards for the Colts last season. In his career his numbers are Canton-worthy gaining over 14,000 yards on over 1,000 receptions. Harrison probably has a little bit left in his tank and could contribute on the field but, more importantly, could mentor young receivers Brian Robeskie and Mohamed Massaquoi. He may even be able turn special teams superstar Josh Cribbs into a NFL wide receiver with his tutelage.

Harrison, of course, had some off the field issues himself when he got into trouble over a weapon last year. There is no denying his work ethic on the field and bringing a Hall of Fame caliber receiver may renew some faith in fans and the players who are growing weary with an 0-4 record this campaign.
