Cleveland Sports Commission Makes Plea for Your Support to Bring FIFA World Cup to Cleveland

The City of Cleveland is one of finalists for the 2018 or 2022 World Cup. The soccer event, which is perhaps the most prestigious team event in the world, would bring up to $400 Million to the city and fill hotel rooms and restaurants all over Cuyshoga County. As the the bid reaches the homestretch, the Cleveland Sports Commission is asking you to sign a petition and spread the word to your friends to help bring the games here. They write in an email:

Hi Everyone! I know this is a busy time, but I ask that you please see below and the attached regarding the USA’s bid to bring the 2018 or 2022 FIFA World Cup to the United States and potentially to Cleveland!

Cleveland is one of 27 finalists out of 38 cities who received the RFP, and Cleveland has been asked to show its enthusiasm by driving 50,000 petition signatures to the www.gousabid.com/CLEVELAND website. Should Cleveland land the FIFA World Cup, the economic boost to NE Ohio’s economy could be in excess of $400 Million!

Today, Cleveland fell to 6th, Houston has increased their total by nearly 6,000 the past 3 days, and Tampa is catching up at roughly 120 behind. Our goal is to be in the top-five out of the 27 cities when we go to NYC on November 12th. Please let me know if there is anything you can do to help us spread the word! Also, it would be a huge help if you can also mention it on your Facebook/Twitter pages if you have one.

The direct link is www.gousabid.com/cleveland and it literally only takes a few seconds. I look forward to hearing your thoughts.
