Concert Review: OK Go at the Grog Shop

This discussion is closed: you can't post new comments.

OK Go played at the Grog Shop in Cleveland this past Friday, November 6th. The band has come to Cleveland many times in the past but this was my first opportunity to see them peform. I heard rumors that they put on an awesome show and found out that the rumors were true.

No matter where you stand in the Grog Shop you feel like you are close to the band. It's a great venue for a concert. OK Go was full of energy from the time they stepped on the stage until the last song.

The band opened the show with a new song titled, "Shoot the Moon". Immediately following were a couple of their popular hits, "Get Over it" and " A Million Ways". Damien Kulash (vocals/guitar) addressed the crowd in between just about every song. One time he asked the fans if they felt Cleveland deserved the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame. He then stated that he thought Cleveland was an odd place to put the Rock Hall. After fans shouted for a few moments the topic died quickly but I'm not sure why that was brought up in the first place.

During one song Kulash got off the stage and walked through the crowd while singing. The fans were singing along and I was wondering if anyone was going to trip over the microphone cord. Confetti poured down from the ceiling and filled the room twice during the show.

The band also performed "Don't Ask Me", "Do What You Want", "It's a Disaster", and "Here it Goes Again". Every song that was performed sounded perfect. It's hard to say which performance was my favorite, but I really liked "Get Over it" and "Invincible".

Damian performed a few acoustic songs throughout the night. The crowd didn't seem as enthusiastic during this time but neither did Kulash. It seemed like he just wanted to get these songs out of the way. The song "What to Do" was played entirely with an assortment of handbells. It was a very unusual performance but it was good.

I'm already looking forward to my next OK Go concert. I definitely won't be missing any more of their shows. The new album titled "Of the Blue Colour of the Sky" is set to be released on January 12, 2010.

The band is excited but wary. They've just spent two exhausting years touring the globe, and another six months back home, writing and rejecting more than sixty new songs. The writing process was grueling, but fruitful: OK Go came up with a collection of demos so strong they grabbed the attention of super-producer Tore Johansson, the hugely sought-after man behind Franz Ferdinand's debut album

They are a decent band but still. I dont see what the fuss is all about. They had one hit video/song and it was only because of the video choreography not the music itself. Not the best way for a band to be famous imo.

Ok Go...

OK Go seems to be a great band, I have heard couple of their songs and I would like to go to the live event, hope I have the chance some day hopefully...

Lovely concert review about how's the concert, fantastic.

The study of two approaches

The study of two approaches among students in Ohio is very useful. Although there is a negative correlation between these two approaches and civic outcome but surely we can interpret some useful factors from here. Thanks for sharing the report.
