Kennedy Barred from Receiving Communion
Rep. Patrick Kennedy (D-NY) has been banned by an ultraconservative bishop from receiving Holy Communion because the congressman supports abortion rights. This ban has now escalated a dispute between Bishop Thomas Tobin and the United States' most famous Roman Catholic family - the Kennedys.
Kennedy explained:
"The bishop instructed me not to take Communion and said he had instructed priests not to give me Communion. [He told me] I am not a good, practicing Catholic because of the positions I've taken as a public official."
A spokesperson for the bishop has thus far declined to discuss what he is said to have told Kennedy.
Former New York Gov. Mario Cuomo warned church leaders on Sunday:
"If you're required [by the church] to make everybody follow your Catholic role, then nobody would vote for Catholics."

Separation of Church and State. If the christian or any other churches starts interfering with American politics, then it is time to start revoking their tax exempt status. There is nothing but bigotry and hypocrisy from the religious leaders, who are busy trying to hide and cover up the generations of sexual abuse and preying on our kids by their pedophiles, or the homophobia spewing from the mouths of the closeted gays infesting christianity.
Do that along with start enforcing the laws against Collusion and Conflict of Interest against the politicians and officials in the Executive, Lgislative and Judicial Branches of our government. Our bought off gov't politicians and officials are elected but take money as bribes from mostly the Neo Cons to pass laws, regulations and deregulations to financially and legally benefit their corporate benefactors and ultimately themselves. Take a look at our country. We're hurting and it's all because the Crooks stole the United States Treasury while hiding behind the cloak of being holier than thou and self rightous to pander to these religious idiots. It's nothing less than Treason as far as I'm concerned.
