Tiger Woods Approval Rating Sinking Faster than Barack Obama's

Other than sharing the cover of the recent issue of Golf Magazine, Tiger Woods and Barack Obama have something else in common - their approval ratings are on the downslide. A new survey reveals that Woods enjoys just a 38 percent approval rating, while the president inches him out with a 46 percent approval rating.
Two years ago, Woods had an amazing 83 percent approval rating, thanks to what we now know was his expertly crafted image. His recent cheating scandal, in which there are now eleven women - including two porn stars - claiming to have had sexual relationships, has uncovered a secret double life and blown the cover on the squeaky-clean image he sold to the world. It's no wonder that favorable opinions of the world's best golfer are dropping off faster than a car driven off the side of a cliff. He's now at a paltry 36 percent approval rating.
The leader of the free world, US President Barack Obama, isn't faring much better. The results of a new poll released Wednesday show that his approval rating has hit an all-time low: just 46 percent. Such an approval rating is the lowest ever for a president at this point in his term. Even George W. Bush had an 86 percent approval rating at the same point in his first term. Just before he took office on Jan. 20 2009, Obama had also had an 83 percent approval rating on Jan. 16. The reason for Obama's drop of is blamed on voter unhappiness with his action on domestic issues and the bad economy.
It appears that both Woods and Obama will need a miracle to turn around public opinion.

It's all quite ridiculous. We don't need minute-by-minute, play-by-play polls. Both Barack Obama and Tiger Woods have work to do and lives to live - both are human and very intelligent but have basic human needs like everybody else. Wish there weren't so many shallow opinions splattered all over the net.
I saw the most silly comparison the other day that said Michelle Obama's ratings were higher than her husband's. Why does she need to be evaluated? I'd rather line up her performance as an advocate for 'all worthy causes' and compare her choices of action to those of other female Princeton grads or other black female lawyers or other US first ladies or other wealthy housewives. I wish she would express strong opinions and be substantial in her conversations on talk shows etc. Opportunities are being missed month after month as she sits with her legs crossed doing a very convincing Laura Bush impersonation. The 50s were more than half a century ago, Michelle. You didn't study library sciences like Laura or marry a neo-con like George. Don't just tell school girls to work hard, show them how to stand up and be counted and take the flack and be firm. Please also stop mucking about with 50s dresses. Wear simple, classic tailored business clothes, black dress pants, low heeled comfortable walking shoes and solid colours that will keep the public focussed on your face and the words you are speaking.
Hilary Clinton, in the meanwhile, goes quietly about her business but is a force for good in a hurting world. We don't need another vacuous female celebrity to remind us that bright women often resort to taking up silly activities after they get married. Geez, the President's family can afford to buy produce - they don't need to grow veggies on the White House lawn. What about all the black people living in poverty in Washington. Is an occasional visit to their neighbourhoods enough? In a hurting world, should the First Lady be talking about gardening at all? I think not.
Chelsea Clinton had a rough ride when she was a child living in the White House but her mother's fortitude set an incredible example for Chelsea. Just look at recent pictures of Chelea's lovely, confident visage. She turned out great. It's OK to live an extraordinary life. We can't pack everything into our days. We must make choices. Please step up to the plate - you can do it, Michelle!!!
As for Tiger Woods - maybe he's lonely, maybe he's been abused. So what if he's mega rich. His wife has angelic looks but that doesn't make her an angel therefore he is not necessarily the only one at fault. Maybe the media crap will help him to simplify his life and focus on what matters to him most (and that could be his children and his mistress - we shouldn't be thinking about this at all - it's a private matter.) Maybe Tiger can pull himself together and live simply but I doubt it - apparently he and his wife are building a huge new estate. They don't need more space between them (in a bigger house.) They need trust and friendship or they need to split up and move on.
Life is full of crazy paradoxes. The wives of celebrated men should get busy working for causes that are bigger than their own problems. Celebrity spouses may be wise to forgive when fans and gold diggers play emotional games. It's complicated but taking time to examine longterm goals helps us to find a balance.
Marriage doesn't work for some people and others think they can't function without it. I think self-respect comes first in all situations and having a forgiving heart is a good thing but everyone needs to look clearly at habitually destructive patterns. Divorce is necessary for some. I'm divorced myself.
As for Michelle, her advisors don't know everything. She should listen to her husband but more than anything, she should follow her own heart. Show American women that it is a good thing to change your mind, re-do your list of priorities, share your thoughts and give direction where it is badly needed. Be a firebrand not a non-descript - nothing wrong with her - First Lady. There is plenty wrong with that picture.
I know nothing about Elin Woods but hope she will be kind to Tiger and do lots of counselling and shed those tears that are necessary for healing. As for Tiger's golf game - I'm not a golfer but watching Tiger Woods play on TV is one of the most magnificent things I've ever witnessed.
Barack Obama does his job extremely well also. That's why his approval ratings are low at this point, he is aiming high and he is right to do so. He has the courage to uphold his long range objectives and he has not flinched in the face of the silly polls. Aiming for the 'hard to achieve' goals is what many of us expected of Barack. I am in awe of his strength and am very proud that he is the President of our next door neighbour, The United States of America. I am a Canadian.
Well stated, Mary. The article is ridiculous. The only reason Bush got to 86% was 9//11. Unfortunately it also led to a 2nd term.
Mother to young child...."see, dear...that one on the right is very bad and did horrible things, and see, he's standing next to that guy and they are smiling together which means he's gotta be bad, too. Yes, dear...they are both black men. Now, come on..it's time to go to beddy bye". Nice job, Cleveland Leader - two with the stroke of one poison pen.
