Cribbs Will Hold Out if Deal is Not Reached on New Contract

For two seasons, Josh Cribbs has been unhappy with his contract status. After signing a 6 year contract it became very clear that he undersold himself and publicly asked to renegotiate his deal and now with 3 years remaining it seems that he has reached the boiling point.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer writes today that the new management has offered him $1.4 Million per year and he finds that number "insulting" and add:

"They need to treat him fairly or he'll never play for the Browns again,'' said agent Peter Schaffer. "He will demand a trade and he will walk out of there and they won't see him for the off-season -- they won't see him ever again.''

Cribbs stated last year that he had reached a verbal agreement on a new deal with fired tandem of Phil Savage and Romeo Crennel.

The timing off Cribbs being so vocal about the agreement raises some eyebrows. The Browns currently are looking to hire a general manager and may fire head coach Eric Mangini by the end of this week. Could Cribbs be looking to get out of town as the team goes through yet another rebuilding season? We'll see how this plays out in the coming weeks.

A conplete and total insult
If they don't get this done it is a joke
This ia the best player on the browns
This is a bad way for holgren to start a relationship

What's really "insulting" is the bush-league tactics his agents are employing at the most inappropriate time. They have a new team president, a few days into the job, a head coach who might get fired tomorrow or tonight, uncertainty all over the place, and they're offended that the Browns aren't offering to overpay their player by the $3-$4 million he hasn't earned except for this season? And Cribbs is under contract for three more seasons! The team doesn't have to do anything, and go get a free agent or a draft pick who can do what Cribbs does for half the price.

If Cribbs is the upstanding, go-to player everyone in Cleveland seems to think he is, he might want to consider firing his agents for making him look like a joke and damaging his reputation. Because Cleveland, for all their issues, shouldn't have a gun put to their head to pay a player who chances are isn't going to have as good a season as he had in 2009.

RE: $3-$4 million he hasn't earned except for this season
8 kickoff career touchdowns wasnt down in one season buddy

name one fucking guy who is a greater kick returner? no one! he sets us up with the gretest field position ever and on nearly 1/3 plays he gets more then 20 yards. we need him. the reason everyone inc leveland thinks hes so good is because he fucking is. i watched all the games this season and let me tell you him and sean rogers are the ONLY exitment excluding harrison vs chiefs and the detroit game.
