Money Alone Won't Get You the New $350K Lexus LFA Supercar

If you thought that money could buy you (nearly) anything, you were wrong. Gone are the days when all you needed to get that ultra exclusive, super cool sports car was a huge wad of cash. Now, you also have to be "cool".

In order to get the new two-seater Lexus LFA supercar, you have to not only have a spare $350,000 (plus tax), but you also have to pass a coolness test. Afterall, Lexus doesn't want this car getting into the wrong hands and being seen by the wrong kinds of people.

Paul Williamson, a national manager at Lexus College, a dealer training school, said:

"We want people who will drive the car, who will be seen in the car. We want it to be seen on the right roads, in front of the right restaurants and not just being enjoyed by one individual in their private garage."

In other words, Lexus must "choose" you to drive the LFA. They pick owners based on several criteria, including where they live, and how often and where they drive.

Only 500 of these cars will ever be produced, about 20 per month for 25 months. The car also boasts features such as the ability to accelerate from 0 to 60mph in just 3.6 seconds, and can reach speeds of up to 202mph. The LFA sports a 10-cylinder, 552-hp engine with a unique Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic (CFRP) cabin that makes it super-lightweight. It can also be customized in a range of colors and wheel designs.
