Back from the Future

Shaker Heights, Ohio approves oil well drilling...
at Thornton Park Recreation Center.
What's with the fossil thinking?
Aren't we trying to move into sustainable energy?
Can't a wind turbine and a solar collector be a better alternative to an oil well?
Both would provide a great educational opportunity for the children of Shaker Heights.
But no, lets go backwards, while you are at it, bring back the Shakers...
They could make really cool baskets to sell.

Comments
Wind turbines and solar arrays are not dependable, do not provide the energy or the income that a well would provide, and would render more land unusable. Want to close the park completely? Then you might get by with solar.
solar collectors on the roof of the skating rink and wind turbines also...would not take up any more room.
also. what are you going to do with an oil well when gasoline is no longer used in cars?
which may be soon.
you also forgot about pollution and carbon footprint.
immediate solutions present bigger long range problems...think sustainable...reusable...thanks, ralph
