Coroner: Casey Johnson Died from Diabetes Related Condition

The Los Angeles County Coroner's Office has been busy lately. Not only did the reveal actress Brittany Murphy's cause of death, but they've also revealed what caused Johnson & Johnson heiress Casey Johnson's death. Chief coroner Ed Winter said that the socialite died of diabetic ketoacidosis, a life-threatening condition caused by a lack of insulin and high blood sugar.

Winter added, "She wasn't taking her insulin. She wasn't taking good care of herself."

She was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes as a child, and co-wrote a book with her father, Woody Johnson, owner of the New York Jets, called "Managing Your Child's Diabetes." Woody also founded the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, which Casey also supported.

Johnson's cause of death has been ruled natural, and a full autopsy report will be finalized in two weeks. She was found dead in her LA home on January 4, but her exact date of death has not been determined.
