Lady Gaga's Debut Album Breaks 10,000,000 Sales Mark

Lady Gaga's debut album, "The Fame", is now officially Diamond Certified, having sold more than 10,000,000 copies worldwide. In reaching such an accomplishment, Gaga joins an elite group of artists that include the likes of the Beatles, Guns N' Roses, Britney Spears, Pink Floyd, and a couple dozen other artists and bands. Lady Gaga's album is the first to top the 10 million mark since Amy Winehouse's 2007 album "Back to Black". What's amazing about her feat is how fast she's gotten there. Some of the other artists on the list have amassed such sales over the period of many years or decades.

Okay, that's 10 million copies worldwide. So it's not exactly RIAA certified. They're making such a big deal of her as better than Britney Spears. Britney sold over 25 million albums with her first album, with 14 million just in North America. Good job, though, Lady Gaga.
well the thing is. back then it was much harder to pirate music so they would just go ahead and buy it. but most people today dont actually buy music. if pirating wasn't a problem today, it would have done MUCH better.
Piracy is ruining the sales of artist that is why back in the days (michael jackson, the beatles, elvis madonna) If you wanted to hear there songs you would have to buy the record now you go on limewire and get the whole album free, People don't really buy the albums now a days because every one has ipods so they go online an purchase a couple songs. now back when thriller was a hit, people mainly bought the album just because of thriller. And now is the best selling album ever. So is admiring the job Lady Gaga has done.

In the days before digital music, people would illegally tape their friend's music and listen to it that way. Digital piracy was just a new way to get free music. So don't downplay the success of artists who have been out longer. They have been surviving piracy threats for years, from the tape cassette edition, to the burned CD copies, to Limewire.
