NFL Stars James Harrison and Antonio Gates Being Honored by Kent State


Kent State University are honoring two of their most famous alumnus tonight. Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison and San Diego Chargers tight end Antonio Gates are part of group that are being inducted to the 2010 KSU Varsity “K” Athletics Hall of Fame. Joining the NFL stars are Meagan Class (field hockey, 1997-00), Veronique Drouin (women’s golf, 2000-03), John Faulstick (head athletic trainer, 1980-09), Charles Hankton (men’s track, 1991-94), Jeff Horvath (men’s swimming, 1972-74) and Travis Miller (baseball, 1992-94). The group will be recognized at halftime of Kent's game against Miami at 7 pm this evening.

Gates, who starred at basketball for the Golden Flashes, will also see his number 44 retired by the school. As a cager he helped lead his team to the Elite Eight in 2002-2003 averaging nearly 21 points a game with 7.7 as a senior.
