Former Brown Joins the Cleveland Gladiators

The Cleveland Gladiators of the AF-1 Arena Football League have signed former Cleveland Browns receiver Steve Sanders to a deal that will allow him to earn a roster spot for the upcoming season.

Signed as an undrafted rookie free agent by the Browns in 2006, Sanders was an East High and Bowling Green standout. In his tenure with the BG Falcons, Sanders registered 156 receptions, 2,324 receiving yards and 25 total touchdowns.

After being allocated to NFL Europe in 2007, Sanders rejoined the Browns in 2008 before ultimately landing on the practice squad that December. Over his career, Sanders recorded just one catch for 18 yards with the Browns.

With this move, the Gladiators make Sanders (6-3, 215 lbs) the latest BGSU recruit to reach 1,000 or more receiving yards. They currently have three others on their roster: Charles Sharon (3,450 yds), Cole Magner (2,385 yds) and Corey Partridge (1,990 yds). The final roster is to be announced March 26.

The Gladiators begin the 2010 season at the Quicken Loans Arena on April 3 against the Arizona Rattlers. Tickets can be purchased by calling 216-685-9000, through clevelandgladiators.com, or from your local Discount Drug Mart location.
