Ice Box defeated 10 rivals in the Florida Derby which serves as a major prep race for the Kentucky Derby. Jockey Jose Lezcano guided the come-from-behind victory at odds of nearly 21-1 and held off fellow longshot Pleasant Prince who was sent off as a 29-1 underdog.
“This horse is getting better,” Winning trainer Nick Zito said. “He had the outside post and a rough trip in his last start, but he ran creditably.”
Ice Box paid $43.40 for the win and the winning exacta (8-4) paid $509.60. Favorite Rule rounded out the Trifecta that paid $1222.90 for a $1. Here is the video of the exciting race that was held at Gulfstream Park earlier today:

well, it is quite a dissappointment for most ofcourse, we can never really predict such act for fould play or so. however, we also have to remember, its not everyday that you get to have to win. Sometimes, losing could be a blessing in disguise ;)
I thought either Rule or radiohead was going to make it . Rule had better ratings .. but out of somehwere Ice box makes it to the finish . Not that I am a horse racing fan , but this is what I call a Photo Finish. I wonder how many hearts were borken on that match for those who didnt bet big monies on Ice box.
I am sure this ICE has broken hearts and left many speechless and penniless for those who haven’t bet on it. Unless of course the race hasn’t been rigged or the ICE hasn’t been doped. I wonder who made money on this and how much. I sure hope people didn’t lose a lot of money either considering sometimes the races are “fixed”

Winning against odds of 21-1 is a good show by Jockey Jose Lezcano, if you see closely in the video that was a pretty close call and strategic. I agree with you we can never really predict such act for foul play or so. However, we also have to remember, it’s not everyday that you get to have to win. Sometimes, losing could be a blessing in disguise ;)
