Martinez took reliever Luis Vizcaino deep for a 3 run homer. It looked like it would be enough but a 9th inning rally would prove fatal and lead to a Yankees sweep in the series.

Borowski had already surrendered a home run in the inning and Jeter represented the tying run. Jeter singled and made a it a 6-4 game and runners remained on first and second for the Yankees. Bobby Abreu singled again making it a one run game with Superstar Alex Rodriguez up to the bat with the chance to win it. The superstar delivered with yet another walk off home run.
