The Playstation 3 may soon be just a memory, with Sony insiders revealing that the Playstation 4 isn't too far off. In fact, they say it could be here in less than 18 months.

The PS4 will have the same chipset as the PS3, but will differ in the drive bay and attachment area. It will also include an extensive software suite for managing content streamed to a TV or Hi Fi source. Sony is hoping that these features, along with improving the overall output experience, will help transform the Playstation 4 into true home entertainment center, eliminating the need for a media center.

Talks of future Playstation models emerged first when Ken Kutaragi resigned from his position at Sony Computer Entertainment. Kutaragi talked about how he envisioned the Playstation 4, 5, and 6. News of the possible PS4 launch in less than two years emerged today.
