Cleveland's local ABC affiliate NewsChannel 5 has decided to drop two iconic television game shows - Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy!" - in favor of two new programs.
"The List", a nighly news magazine show that connects news with pop culture, will fill the 7pm slot. This program aims to give viewers advice to make life better, including videos and tips to share with friends and family. The show is also designed to "entertain and pull back the curtain on the top-trending stories of the day."
The 7:30pm slot will be filled by "Let's Ask America", a new game show that is "unlike any other." Contestants play the game from the comfort of their own home, and the game show asks America a variety of current event questions, giving players the chance to win cash and prizes from their couches.
Cleveland, Cincinnati, Baltimore, Phoenix, Tampa and Tulsa are the first Scripps markets to launch the new programs. When thecontracts for other syndicated shows expire in the remaining Scripps markets, Detroit, Denver, San Diego, Indianapolis, Kansas City, Mo., West Palm Beach, Fla., and Bakersfield, Calif., "Let’s Ask America" and "The List" will move into those timeslots.
If you're still hoping to catch Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! on television, Cleveland's local CBS affiliate WOIO Channel 19 is carrying them in their regular 7pm and 7:30pm time slots. It'll take some getting used to considering the two game shows were staples of Channel 5 for quite a long time.
