Last month, the Cleveland Indians cleared out 10 suites to make way for their new Premium Club area. Featuring 120 seats, the Premium Club will be more exclusive than its current club area.
One hundred of the seats in the Premium Club area will be high-back leather chairs that will be sold as season tickets, and those season ticket holders can add on a single-game basis any of the additional 20 seats located at the far end of the club. This area will consist of 20 wooden seats similar to those found at older venues, such as the former Cleveland Municipal Stadium.
All tickets in the Premium Club will sell for $150 each. The 5,000-square-foot area will also feature gourmet food that the team describes as a step above what is found in the club area, and beer and wine are included.
The project is due to be completed by March 17. The Indians open the home portion of their 2013 schedule on April 8 against the New York Yankees. The Indians are confident that the Premium Club seats will sell out nightly, despite the fact that the team had difficulty selling tickets in the regular club last season.
