Researchers are looking for assistance in coming up with a menu for a simulated four-month mission to Mars, and need your help.
The project, which involves the University of Hawaii at Manoa and Cornell University, aims to help NASA figured out the best way to keep astronauts well fed during long missions to places like Mars or the moon.
The researchers are seeking recipes in the following categories:
There are some rules, and all ingredients must come from a list of pre-approved ingredients (more info on the HI-SEAS website).
Recipes can be submitted via the HI-SEAS website [HERE] until March, 8, 2013. Voting on the recipes will run from March 9 to March 27, and a finalist will be chosen by April 1. The prize for winning the recipe contest is nothing to write home about - just a t-shirt - but knowing that your recipe might be one day cooked up in space is admittedly kind of cool.
