Lorain County's EMH Healthcare to Join University Hospitals System
Earlier this week, EMH Healthcare officials announced that University Hospitals will be taking over the Lorain County entity, most likely by year's end.
The agreement would see EMH fully integrated into the UH brand, which means that the current EMH Elyria Medical Center and other EMH facilities would fall under the control of University Hospitals. It will still be more than 90 days for the process to be completed.
Only a letter of intent to explore integration has been signed at this point, however both EMH and UH agree that the talks would not have progressed this far if the full intent was not to move forward.
University Hospitals, based in Cleveland, currently includes 10 hospitals and 20 outpatient health centers.
Following the integration, the services offered and physicians that Lorain County residents see today will continue.
