Ohio WIC Program Has Enough Funding to Run Through November
According to Ohio health officials, a special nutrition program for mothers and young children has enough funding to continue running into November, despite the partial federal government shutdown. The Ohio Health Dept. says that the supplemental program for Women, Infants, and Children - known as WIC - is assured of operating into the second week of November with existing resources and may be able to extend beyond that.
Nationally, there has been concern about the impacts of the shutdown on the WIC program, which provides support to pregnant women and mothers of children up to age 5.
In Ohio, there are more than 260,000 WIC participants.
