Movement to "Draft" Al Gore Escalates

We have been talking for months about when Al Gore will throw his hat into the Presidential ring. The Draft Gore Committee, a Political Action Campaign, has started launching advertisements calling Gore to join the race. The first advert, dubbed "You Who", hit airwaves today in Iowa and will begin airing nationwide next week.

The Draft Gore Committee's Eva Ritchey said the it can work and added, "are a legitimate political mechanism for encouraging an unwilling candidate to enter the race."

Ritchey pointed to the 1952 election when Dwight Eisenhower was persuaded to run because of the public support.

Gore will enter this race and probably win the election as long as he doesn't misstep. The drafting is cute, but people who watch politics, like myself, would be shocked that Gore doesn't jump in the campaign when the time is right.
