Gerber Organic Baby Food Recall
Gerber Products Co. has issued a recall on all packages of its organic rice and organic oatmeal cereals. The recall was announced Friday, and was issued because of the potential clumping of the baby food, which can pose a choking hazard to infants.
Gerber reports that they have received complaints of choking, but contends that there have not been any fatalities. We commend them for taking the appropriate steps to recall the products before any serious injuries resulted.
Gerber said that a "limited quantity" of the baby cereals could contain lumps that will not dissolve well in milk or water. Nevertheless, they are recalling all of their organic rice and organic oatmeal cereals to be on the safe side.
Retail outlets selling the products should remove them from store shelves, and parents with the products at home should contact the Gerber parents resource center at 1-800-443-7237 or 231-928-3000. You will be able to return the product for a full refund.
As stated previously, all codes of the two products are being recalled. Both are sold in 8 ounce boxes. The UPC code for the organic rice cereal is 15000 12504, and the UPC code for the organic oatmeal cereal is 15000 12502.
