Serena Williams: Sore Loser

Serena Williams, who was beat soundly by the number one player in the world yesterday Justin Henin 7-6 (3), 6-1, sounded like a sore loser last night. Starting her post game conference by stating she was only there because she didn't want to get fined by the USTA she went on to say that the only reason she was beaten because of Henin's "lucky shots".

Serena, that may have hold some weight against a lesser oppenent but Henin is the number one player in the world. She beat you soundly. The final set was 6-1. You didn't even win a set. Take the the loss with some humility.

Here is exactly what mopey Serena said:

"I really don't feel like talking about it. I don't want to get fined. That's the only reason I came. can't afford the fines because I keep losing.

I think she played better. I think she made a lot of lucky shots and I made a lot of errors.I don't think my level dropped.

I guess in a way my level did drop. I definitely made a lot of errors. She started playing a lot more aggressive and played a lot of hard balls."

Instead of criticizing the shape she came in, she was clearly out of shape, Williams said

"I was very fit," she said. "I can run for hours."

Denial. Anger. Acceptance. Serena, when and if you accept the fact that you have to get in better shape, you can will a major again. Until you accept that fact you will remain just another player the Women's tennis tour.

Maybe this was one of those "lucky shots". Make sure to read Serena's lips at the end of the clip:
