Yeah right, they are going to kill their child, transport her body (without the media) and turn the car in without cleaning out the trunk! Come on, this is an obvious set up by the Portugal Police and then they refuse outside assistance??? What a joke!

This is pure rumor-mongering -- one-sided at best, and irresponsible at worst. Note that the writer presents allegations as fact, without any counterargument/rebuttal. Note the use of obfuscating phrases such as "is now believed to" (by who, exactly?), "are now considered to be", "some have suggested", etc. Despite all this vagueness, the headline confidently declares that Madeleine died from a pill overdose.

All in all, this reads like the work of someone who is only superficially familiar with the case, hasn't taken the time to do the homework, knows nothing about forensic evidence, and doesn't really care anyway -- just wants to attract attention with a splashy headline. Shame.

To "mum".There are people who do kill their own children. Look at recently the father who was convicted of killing his own daughter. Who would've thought it possible in that instance, but he did and it is. And also, even the media have to sleep. So, the media weren't there by the mccanns side every hour of day and night, also, at the start, the media and everyone else, were focused on Robert Murat. So in fact the Mc Canns were left to their own devices for quite a while. A body could be kept cool, in the church vaults, so for the family to say that it's impossible that it is too hot there. Rubbish. What I find very strange is where's Kate's mum. You would think her mother would want to be there with her daughter, comforting her in her pain, but no, instead it's her uncle and aunt. Strange that. In fact it all smell's of a big fat rat to me.

I must say, they put on an excellent show, attending church on a daily basis; however, since their return home, they seem to have lost interest in attending. Also I found this comment by Haynes Hubbard a little strange; "The church is a place of hope, sanctuary, light, a refuge - and it continues to be so. It has no other function in this community or in any other community, and any suggestion otherwise is ridiculous," Well, what on earth could he have been talking about? He wasn't suggesting that someone was suggesting, that it had been used for the slaughter of a sacrificial lamb was he. Peculiar thing to say. What other function was he referring to.

Did they test the hair that was found? The chemicals in sedatives apparently go right to the hair folicles and also it can be determined whether or not the person was dead when the hair fell out based on dark rings around the base of the strand of hair. This is absolutely ridiculous; the Portuguese secrecy laws. The media is creating their own song and dance while a couple (who's child has disappeared) is facing losing their entire existence. There is no need of this. Portugal will never be on my vacation agenda unless I'm looking to have my life ruined by ignorant people trying to save face. I don't know which is worse, the PJ or the media.

To comment posted 3:05 pm. You seem to have put a lot of thought into disproving the Mccann's innocence. Maybe the reason they referred to it being to hot to hide a body is because they do not think like criminals. Here's a little story for you to test your criminal mind.

A woman is at her mother's funeral and she meets the man of her dreams. She is instantly taken with this man and immediately asked gives him her telephone number and hopes that he will call her for a date. Weeks go by and still she has not heard anything from this man and she is heartbroken. A couple more weeks go by and the woman killed her sister, why?

At first I didn't get this and when it was told to me the answer it made sense. Maybe I am not to quick or maybe I lack criminal or mental health insight. I don't know.

Maddy ist still out there somewhere. She is still missing. I think she deserves it to look for her.
What ever happend to her, she is the one everyone schould look for.
Its unfair to madeleine to concentrate on other stupid things like media, poor parents, PR and politics.
Its just not fair to her. They (We) have to find her.
And there is still a chance that all these reports of here dead is just not true.

that's a good one, my friend did this on me, I didn't get it either.But she told me the answer. I guess I am being a little judgemental, but I have a few aches about this. First I can't understand how 2 highly educated people, who so desperately wanted children, that they went to Holland and lived there for a period of time while waiting for the ovum and sperm to be propogated and then implanted; that they would go all the way to Spain, leaving, every night, these 3 what must be,to them, precious children of 2 and 3 yrs, to go off eating and drinking nightly, leaving all access open (for ANY reason isn't a good enough reason to do so)with a swimming pool, not so far away, that Madeleine could've walked into.It just doesn't add up. None of it does. Then after this , they said that they did not accept that they were negligent to do so. That they are in no way responsible for her disappearance, I mean, come on, that's insulting to the child. Of course they are responsible, Madeleine certainly wasn't responsible,she wasnt old enough to be so, for herself or the 2 young children left in her charge. The parents are responsible for the safety of their children.If they had been doing this, Madeleine would be there. Also, I felt very uneasy at the mccanns saying to the press: "Find THE body and prove it was us" I mean , THE body. Not our little madeleine's body , but a body, like it's nothing to them. Like it's nothing to them. Wake up world. And the pictures in the paper, and the parents are all big grin's for the cameras, let's act normal, we're doing it for the twins, 24 days after Madeleine has gone and another, sometime later.What if madeleine had been alive then and was being shown these pictures of her parent's looking so happy, it was like an out of this world happy face. Like over the top abnormally happy looking. So yes it just doesn't add up for me.None of it.The only time I saw the parent's genuinely upset and no longer able to control their emotions, was ironically, when it was their own ass's on the line. It feel's all so very very wrong.

it could be there is more to it, maybe the Fourth Estate are playing their own game of cards and there is more to it all than we could in this world imagine. Maybe the best way to help the Mccanns and Madeleine,is, to stop buying newspapers and reading the tripe they put in it, and let the mccanns air their dirty washing(if there is any) in relative privacy. Because by writing anything on a forum and offering ANY opinion on it is playing into the hands of it all. Ok say they did heavily court the media), big OTT shows with balloons and commercial arm bands, not even attempting to knock a few doors to ask of Madeleine,(whilst I understand it is illegal for anyone other than the police to investigate a crime in Potugal; I don't think hell or high water would stop me in this scenario, they'd have to throw the average person in jail to stop them) of course the Media are showing us all this, and if Madeleine is watching, then would she not wonder why her parents aren't out looking for her. She'll see them coming out of mass every day and hear nothing of the parent's actively looking for her, she'll see that they're having fun in the park, happy and smiling without her, them; not even going on television and telling her, "Madeleine if you're watching, we love you and we are looking for you, Madeleine; no matter how long it takes, we will never stop searching till we have you back.I could go on, but this is what I mean, how we all get roped in; it's not my place to judge, but judge we do, one way or another.

look, they've been sedating these kids since birth because the kids were more overwhelming than they ever imagined and they fucked up. madeleine overdosed. and now they're screwed. if found out, they will go to prison, lose their medical licenses, lose their twins, and possibly their family who may disown them. so they concoct an abduction story to save themselves since it was accidental and they're not murderers and figure it will stick. they didn't anticipate that the portuguese police are NOT dolts and have pieced this together and been careful and realize the killers are staring them in the face. the parents ARE a little too stone faced and scripted, aren't they? they didn't mean to do it, but they need to own up to this fast since it's looking very very bad for them. there is no abductor. they just oversedated her and paid for it and she's buried somewhere around the church. if they find this girl's body, the parents are toast.

I hope they find poor little Maddy and allow her to rest in peace.

I can't understand these people. They go on holiday with their children, but put them in a creche all day long and then at night leave them alone in a holiday apartment while they go out to a bar.

That's not the actions of loving parents, that's two people that view children as an inconvenience.

All along, i always thought this case was a case of sex trafficking.
I really think the authorities should rent the movie "HUMAN TRAFFICKING" before they go pointing fingers at the easy targets.
It is as if they are looking for an easy way out to close this case and to end all the publicity.

Also, you would think the McCanns' would want people from their own county analysing the evidence rather then authorities from a foreign country. They already had shown signs of aggravation in the beginning, stating that if it had been a child from their country that went missing, that that child would not receive the same attention.
That shows right there that they are not concerned, and they wanted to easily look for someone to blame, to end the publicity and not give their country a bad name.
When all along, most of the county is probably involved in sex trafficking.
Even the border patrol was involved with sex trafficking in the documentary movie, "HUMAN TRAFFICKING"

I suspect the McCanns as much as anyone as there are plenty of unanswered questions, but they are innocent unless proven guilty. There are a few credible theories on what might have happened, but to date, nobody really knows besides the McCanns themselves.

yes, that's a possibility, but it still doesn't explain the parent's action's of leaving their children, alone and vulnerable, night after night, and you don't get more vulnerable than children. The parent's are intelligent enough to do their homework about the way the world is. I won't even let my 6 yr old play out the front of our home without me watching him, even though I regard the area where I live to be community orientated and reasonably safe, nor would I go to the pub 20 yds across the road for a night out while my 6 and 8 yr olds are sleeping. I'm a single parent, the mccanns complain that they were on holiday and needed a break; so do I and countless others, but when you love your children, more than oneself, you are prepared to make these sacrifices, and you make them with grace; not dumping them in an apartment and abandoning them to the "wolves". or as the case may be .......

It say's in today's Mail that the mother struggled to cope with these "hyperactive children",i just wonder how they were hyperactive. Were they jumping over the furniture whilst attempting to do handstands, and acting out elements of free running on the walls and basically doing the things kid's do? Then mrs mccann should spend a day in the average home, mine included. This is a normal life with kids. It seem's to me that as clinically as they were propogated, she also expected them to behave, like neat tidy little doll's from a pin box. This is my last post, as up to now i've managed to refrain from passing judgement in the written word, judge not, lest ye be judged, is ringing in my ears. It's a test for us all.
