Carmona Wins 17th, Tribe Shuts Out Royals

Not only is Fausto Carmona a shoe in for the AL Comeback Award, he is making it difficult to leave him off the Cy Young Award Ballot. The young right hander for the Cleveland Indians dominated the Kansas City Royals with his nasty sinker and won his 17th game. Carmona allowed only 3 hits and struck out 9 as his ERA dropped to 3.09. More improtanly, the Indians magic number to clinch the division is now 9 games.

The Indians scored their first run in the bottom of the 1st on a Asdrubal Cabrera double that scored Grady Sizemore. They would score again in the third when Travis Hafner homered to right field. The scoring would subside until the eigth when the team exploded for four runs sealing the game.

The final score Cleveland 6 Kansas City 0. Carmona is now 17-8 and the losing pitcher, Zack Greinke, fell to 6-6 on the year.
