Iranian President Wants to Visit Ground Zero

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has requested to visit New York City's ground zero when he visits the city later this month. Ahmadinejad is set to speak to the U.N. General Assembly September 24. Republican Presidential Candidate Mitt Romney has stated his opinion clearly when he said today:

"Ahmadinejad's shockingly audacious request should be met with a vehement no,'' Romney, the former governor of Massachusetts, said today. "It's inconceivable that any consideration would be given to the idea of entertaining the leader of a state sponsor of terror at Ground Zero.

"This would deeply offend the sensibilities of Americans from all corners of our nation,'' Romney said. "Instead of entertaining Ahmadinejad, we should be indicting him."

NYPD Police Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly said that the decision has not been made whether to allow Ahmadinejad to visit the site where the World Trade Centers once stood. Earlier this week Ahmadinejad made headlines when he challenged President George Bush to a public debate stating:

"I proposed it last year. I will go to New York. Let's sit down and talk. But not behind closed doors."

ahahaha

Absolutely, positively, NOT

Iran would do better to address the issues than to go site seeing. They haven't realized that it doesn't matter to Americans whether the propaganda used to demonize them is based in truth or not. We'll go to war with them over innuendos and fabricated information. The willing media is ready and willing to lie us into another war.
Our media will imply that they too were tied 911, and we will believe it! More than 30% of us still believe that Saddam was tied to 911. Just look what happened to Iraq. Now they are on the road to democracy and Bush is converting all the Suuni insurgents into becoming allies!
Iran has a lot of oil and doesn't want us to control it. That is the unforgiveable sin. Abiminajihad would save energy by standing in the street in Teheran. Soon ground zero will come to him.

I wonder if he gets headaches with his eyes crossed like that.

But in all seriousness, the policy of avoiding leaders of the so-called "rogue states" has clearly been ineffective in the past few years. At some point we will need to address the concerns of the people in that part of the world. The only way to avoid dealing with the people of the middle east is to stop relying on them, and that much the current administration (and others before it) has clearly shown no desire to do. So i find it anomolous that the administration (and americans in general) want the resources from the middle east, yet we have little desire to sit with them face to face to hammer out a solution to the current problems.

Beating people up only works until they heal, and then you must fight again.

BTW....i live in NYC and i would have no issue with it if there was a meaningful dialogue.
