Newt Gingrich (Again) Hints at Possible White House Run
Newt Gingrich keeps on hinting at a possible run for the President. Today the former Speaker of the House launched his "American Solutions" which look at the nation's problems problems through the lens of new technology. He is appearing on satellite TV, the Internet and in-person.
Gingrich threw a couple of one liners at Fred Thompson today saying that his apperance on Jay Leno's Tonight Show was goofy. Gingrich added
"A typical, idea-oriented Gingrich talk on C-Span as opposed to going to Leno or Letterman,"
Here are some other things he said in an interview with the Atlanta Journal Constitution:
"I wanted to stay very active on national security. We looked into this. I live 11 minutes from the CIA, I live 18 minutes from the Pentagon. I spend 40 percent of my time on national security," Gingrich said in an interview. "It would have been dishonest to have pretended that I was coming home."
"All of my immediate relatives are middle class. All of [wife] Calista's relatives are middle class. And our daughters would say they're middle-class. That's who we are," Gingrich said. "We're fairly successful, but the idea of writing a $100 million check for a campaign is not part of my lexicon. I also think it's just wrong. I don't think we should be buying offices."
And the most striking:
"Either there is genuine citizen desire to have someone who can vividly present a clear alternative to Senator [Hillary] Clinton, or there isn't," he said. "I have zero interest in putting together a traditional campaign, running around the country begging for money."
I'm wondering if Gingrich is trying to get the attention of an organization like Unity08 who wants to put a Bipartisan ticket on the 2008 ticket. It may to late to raise the funds needed to compete with the Republicans who have a wide head start in terms of fund-raising. While Unity08 was getting a lot of press a few months ago, it hasn't been heard from too much since. Both liberals and conservatives probably fear a big-named candidate in the election as it will likely split votes.
One things for sure, the more Gingrich puts his toes into the 2008 pool the moor likely he is going to enter the race. The only question remains when he will formally announce and what route he chooses.

I wonder if Newt repaid that quarter million dollar loan he got from Bush Senior. I believe those are the facts. At any rate he was broke at the time and it has not been that long ago, so we know he needs a big sugar teat. If he does not want to run around the country asking for money then he automatically believes he is better than the others, smarter than the others and more in demand than the others.
I cannot ever care for this man who was tearing up Bill Clinton for his pecadillo with Monica while Newt was in deeper, shall we say with a girl of his own.
Very weak character.
