Michigan May Have to Forfeit Win Against Penn State

The Michigan Wolverines football season may have taken (another) turn for the worse. The team is under Big Ten investigation after the school used an ineligible player in the first four games of the season. The player in question is freshman Artis Chambers. The team could have to forfeit their the victory in last weeks Penn State game as Chambers was eligible under NCAA rules but not Big Ten guidelines.
"We had a misinterpretation of the Big Ten freshman eligibility rules," Michigan athletic director Bill Martin said. "We found this out Thursday afternoon. When we did, he's no longer going to be a part of the team for the rest of the year."
When asked what the punishments may be Martin said:
"We'll have to wait to see what the Big Ten says. I can't rule anything out at this point."
Embattled head coach Lloyd Carr was not to blame according to Martin. Carr did have something to say about the matter when asked by reporters yesterday afternoon:
"I'm not going to get into that, other than to say it's a real disappointment," Michigan coach Lloyd Carr said in his post-game press conference. "That's all."
Martin stated that the rules had changed in the Big Ten regarding eligibility which caused the error. As if losing to Division I-AA school Appalachian State wasn't enough for big blue this year....

Why does the media insist on referring to Michigan as "Big Blue"?
Please reference me to just one source that has anyone or anything directly related to Michigan using the term or phrase "Big Blue"
